Polače is the largest and safest harbor on the Island of Mljet, surrunded by small islets. Probably it is also the oldest settlement on the Island, with great cultural heritage from roman times. Pomena was a small fisherman village in the past, but now it is a tourist center of the Island, with several fish restaurants and caffe-bars and a hotel Odisej. Saplunara is a bay on the most southern part of the island, well known of it's sandy beaches |
Great and Small lake are central part of Mljet National Park. Inside the Great lake there is a small isle of St. Mary, with an Benedictine monastery and a church dating from 12th century. |
